The work in this section is an exploration of chance operations linked to the ancient Chinese text of philosophy and divination, the I Ching (Book of Changes). The I Ching uses a type of divination called cleromancy, a system of apparently random numbers, to direct the reader to specific texts represented by sixty-four Hexagrams. Together, the texts of the Hexagrams can be read as a microcosom of the universe through complex, symbolic correspondences. A set of images was randomly indexed to the Hexagrams and the oracle was used to determine final pairings for each work. The titles of the first four here represent the numbers and names of each Hexagram; the next four are from a larger set, and use the letters of the alphabet as a limit to the series.
