Turning to cast-off images from public domain comics, magazines, and other printed detritus, John Schulz’s work transforms the commonplace using chance operations, cut-ups, and an ironic visual language to reveal aspects of the banal that are somehow disquieting, convey psychic anxiety, and reflect the uncertainty of contemporary life.
